Speech of the dean of the
College of Health and Medical Technologies
The College of Medical and Health Technologies at Gilgamesh University was established in the 2019-2020 academic year. It comprises the departments of Medical Laboratory Technologies, Radiology and Ultrasound Technologies, and Anesthesia and Laser Aesthetic Technologies.
The college operates on a credit-hour system, an internationally recognized educational model for its various programs. This system is based on credit hours, rather than a predetermined semester or annual schedule. It allows students to choose the courses they wish to study over three semesters instead of two. Any unfinished courses from the first two semesters are covered and made up in the third semester through attendance and examinations. This addresses cases of failing or carrying over courses to the following year. Students also have the option to accelerate their studies, shortening the duration to three years instead of four.
Graduates have already been received for the academic years 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025 from the Radiology and Ultrasound and Medical Laboratory Technologies departments.
Vision:
To be a distinguished and unique institution within the College of Health and Medical Technologies, encompassing the departments of Radiology, Ultrasound, Medical Laboratories, Anesthesia Technology, and Laser Aesthetics, providing up-to-date academic information, keeping pace with the latest scientific advancements, and elevating the health standards of the community through research and the treatment of medical conditions.
Mission:
To provide healthcare to patients by preparing a scientific staff capable of accurately interpreting patients' medical results; to ensure students possess extensive experience in handling medical samples and demonstrate integrity and honesty in laboratory testing; and to provide dedicated training facilities that enable students to acquire experience and skills in laboratory analysis, radiology, and ultrasound.
To ensure graduates of the Radiology and Ultrasound Department are well-versed in all aspects of medical imaging and radiology, including the management of various medical conditions and treatment methods.
To ensure graduates of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department are capable of conducting all routine and advanced tests and possess high-level skills in managing epidemic situations within the community, demonstrating appropriate patient interaction skills. A graduate of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department at Gilgamesh University should be able to perform comprehensive laboratory tests, possess the ability to use modern medical equipment, and adhere to professional ethics and safety standards. They should also be able to work efficiently in governmental and private healthcare institutions and scientific research centers.
A graduate of the Laser Aesthetic Technology Department should possess theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of medical aesthetics, skin and hair care using modern laser technologies, and be able to handle various cosmetic cases using the latest scientific methods. They should be able to perform all laser, peeling, and dermatological treatments with high skill and professionalism, while adhering to high professional standards, safety protocols, and patient protection.
A graduate of the Anesthesia Technology Department should be proficient in the fundamental principles of anesthesia and its modern techniques. They should be able to assist the anesthesiologist in preparing the patient before, during, and after surgical procedures, accurately monitor vital signs, and handle emergency cases efficiently and promptly.
Objectives:
The College of Health and Medical Technologies strives to employ the best modern scientific methods in delivering useful information and keeping pace with the latest scientific advancements to students through its distinguished faculty. It also aims to provide students with practical scientific experience through hands-on training in the college's laboratories.
